New England Association of Chiefs of Police 2006 Leadership Summit Photos

On June 20th and 21st, police officials from throughout New England gathered at the Justice System Training and Research Institute on the Bristol, Rhode Island campus for the New England Association of Chiefs of Police 2006 Leadership: "The Police Executive and the Development of a Traffic Safety Initiative".

Chief Jack Coyle, Executive Director of the New England Association of Chiefs of Police, expresses thanks to NHTSA, and especially NHTSA New England Law Enforcement Liaison Ted Minall for their support of the 2006 Leadership Summit.
The Honorable Patrick C. Lynch, Attorney General for the State of Rhode Island delivers opening remarks addressing the significance of police executive leadership in the area of traffic safety initiatives.
Joan Sweeney, PhD, of Strategic Change Consortium and member of the Advisory Board for the Roger Williams University Justice System Training and Research Institute, challenges participants to contemplate issues of police organizational culture as it relates to developing change to further the objectives of traffic safety in their respective communities.
Garret Mortford, the Chief of Enforcement and Justice Services Division at NHTSA, delivered the luncheon address.

A presentation on the subject of data analysis for problem solving was made by Frank Colaprete, Ed.D, and Officer Jon Northrup, Rochester, New York Police Department.

Captain Walt Goodell, Troop B Commander, Vermont State Police, led a discussion related to the practical application of theory as he described a traffic safety initiative that is underway in the State of Vermont.
The practical use of the media for public education and information dissemination was discussed by Chuck Satterfield, PIO for the Vermont Governor's Office on Highway Safety and Maria Farrah Howell of Farrah Consulting Group, Boston, Massachusetts.
