2007 Medal of Valor Recipients

Sheriff Mark Westrum (Sagadahoc County, ME) announces the awarding of a 2007 Medal of Valor to Sergeant Robert Doherty, Portland Police Department ME, and Officer Steven Connors, South Portland Police Department ME at the New England Association of Chiefs of Police 2007 Annual Meeting in Old Saybrook, Connecticuit. Sergeant Doherty and Officer Connors were recognized for their efforts in apprehending a suspect for kidnapping and terrorizing during which officers engaged in a gun fight with the suspect, after being fired upon, while making the arrest. |

| Chief Joseph Young (Winthrop, ME), President of The New England Association of Chiefs of Police congratulates Sergeant Kelly Botelho, New Bedford Police Department MA upon his receipt of a 2007 Medal of Valor. Sergeant Botelho was recognized for his actions, which protected other responding police officers and civilians, by exchanging gun fire with a murder suspect who was actively engaged in a shooting spree at a New Bedford strip club. |
